What can I do with the life God has given me?

“How much is enough?” That question was one posed to Nelson Rockefeller. His response with a smile, “Just a little bit more.” The response seems a bit humorous but for the most of us, it rings true. It is easy to let our desire “for a little bit more” to become our motivation for life.

It can and often does eat away at compassionate hearts and the concerns of others slip out of our mind and become at best afterthoughts. In Jesus’ own words, we hear that we are “to seek first the kingdom of God and righteousness.” This is not a mere challenge to simplify or downsize our life. God is calling us into a new and deeper understanding of our life purpose. In Christ, we discover an entirely new way to see life.

At Messiah, the question we wrestle with is, “What can I do with this life that God has given to me?” We are challenged, encouraged and strengthened as we realize all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. Our minds, our skills, our time, our money, our beauty, our relationships, our creativity; all of these are gifts.

Stewardship ministry at Messiah is simply discovering the ways we can put all these gifts into service. It is to help each choose life not just a lifestyle.

eScrip

Instructions

The “eScrip” program is an easy way to make a significant financial contribution to Messiah Lutheran Church at no cost to you. eScrip gives money to Messiah whenever purchases are made at participating stores using registered credit and debit cards (MC, VISA, AMEX, ATM, Vons, Chevron, Macy's etc.). No need to notify store personnel…e-Scrip is automatic! Parents, relatives, friends and teachers can register to support Messiah through the eScrip program. Consider using eScrip for many of your shopping, business, and gift-giving needs!

You can enroll on the Internet right now by following these instructions:

1. Visit the website at www.escrip.com
2. Click on step 1, “Sign Up-It’s Free!”
3. Click on the circle next to “Group ID” and enter: 166445637 in the box, then click search.

A link for Messiah Lutheran Church will appear at the top of the screen. Click on “Messiah Lutheran Church” to select it as your desired recipient of e-Scrip contributions. To proceed to the next step, click “next”.

For step 2, please provide information about yourself. Then click next.

In step 3, you can register your grocery club cards for participating merchants (e.g.,Vons/Pavillions) and in step 4, you can register one or more of your credit and/or debit cards. Step 5 will let you register your Macy’s credit or gift cards. Then, in step 6, confirm your information is correct and click confirm.

There are no registration fees or other costs to individuals enrolled in these programs. Once your registration is complete, a percentage of all your purchases at participating merchants will be given to Messiah Lutheran Church.
