Pastoral Call Process

Pastoral Call Process

For your information and shared participation, this page contains the latest status on the process of affirming Messiah's mission, values, and vision for the future. This update includes process timeline, steps, opportunities for engagement, and connections to additional information.

A byproduct of this work is alignment of the staff and the calling of an additional pastor...all in concert with the resources provided by our partners in ministry.

A short introductory paper with answers to frequently asked questions is available now.

Your Voice gatherings were conducted as a series of congregational feedback and collaboration sessions to determine our values and vision. The process was interactive and engaging; involving staff & Council, ministry leaders, and congregational groups. We used a Values in Action technique and studied God Dreams templates for possible directions and combinations. See a summary of the Your Voice events

The outcome of the Your Voice sessions was the following Mission, Values, and Vision statements.

In parallel, a Ministry Site Profile (MSP) Team was assembled to prepare the documentation for notifying the ELCA Synod of our search process and congregational needs. This MSP also serves as a recruiting and informational document for candidate pastors. This MSP document is complete and has been submitted to the Synod offices.

Our Partners in Ministry are invited to recommend candidate pastors using this Nomination Form.

Your Council has appointed the following Call Committee to work with the Synod, interview potential candidates, and deliver a candidate of choice to the congregation for calling. Call Committee members include: Nancy Phillipi, Dave Shirota, Jim Hodgson, Heidi Askew, Chris Ross, Jim Rettela, Steve Busch, Diane Sherwood, and Jeff Rogers.

Your feedback on any of these materials, process, or timing is welcome and can be directed to the Council at .

Please support your church by praying over this process, our staff, and the Call Committee for God's guidance and strength throughout this journey.
